Margaret Shkimba is a seasoned writer with extensive experience across various roles, including serving as an Op-Ed Columnist for The Hamilton Spectator since November 2009, where bi-weekly opinion pieces focus on local issues such as transit, infrastructure, politics, and social justice. Margaret founded their own writing venture in 1994 and held positions like Social Media Manager for the Federation of Medical Women of Canada from 2014 to 2019 and Project Coordinator at McMaster University from 1988 to 2016, promoting the educational mission of the Faculty of Health Sciences. Margaret's educational background includes a BA Honours in History/Women's Studies from McMaster University and ongoing advanced studies in History at York University, complemented by facilitation training through the ICA and writing credentials from the American Medical Writers Association.
