James Clarke has a diverse work experience in government and public service. James is currently serving as the Director of the Mayor's Office at Hamilton City Council since March 2020. Previously, they worked as a Senior Policy Adviser at 10 Downing Street from March 2018 to February 2020. James also held positions at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government as an (Acting) Deputy Director in 2018 and as a Senior Policy Adviser from July 2017 to February 2018. Prior to that, James worked as a Senior Policy Adviser at the Department for Education from November 2016 to July 2017.
