Erik P. Rau is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in library services and historical research. Currently serving as President of the Independent Research Libraries Association since May 2023 and as Director of Library Services at Hagley Museum and Library since July 2011, Erik has a strong background in promoting public engagement in the humanities, demonstrated through the role as Co-Director of the Delaware Public Humanities Institute from 2012 to 2016. Erik is an active member of multiple professional organizations, including the Society for the History of Technology, where involvement includes positions on the Executive Council and various committees. Educational credentials include a Ph.D. in History and Sociology of Science from the University of Pennsylvania and a BS in Science, Technology, and Society from Stanford University.
