Kelly Baden began their work experience as a Meetings and Development Assistant at the American Political Science Association in 2002. Kelly then worked as an Events Coordinator at EMILY's List in 2004. After that, they served as the Public Affairs Director at Planned Parenthood Affiliates of New Jersey from 2005 to 2007. From 2007 to 2010, they worked as a Public Policy Manager at Physicians for Reproductive Choice and Health. Kelly then moved on to become the Freelance Online Advocacy and Social Networking Manager at Planned Parenthood Affiliates of New Jersey from 2010 to 2011. In 2010, they also became the Director of Policy and Strategic Partnerships at the National Institute for Reproductive Health/NARAL Pro-Choice New York until 2013. From 2013 to 2017, they held various roles at the Center for Reproductive Rights, including Director of State Advocacy, Interim Senior Director of U.S. Policy and Advocacy, and Policy and Advocacy Advisor. Kelly then served as the Vice President of Reproductive Rights and later Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Services at the State Innovation Exchange from 2017 to 2022. Most recently, in 2023, they became the Vice President for Public Policy at the Guttmacher Institute.
Kelly Baden attended The College of New Jersey from 1997 to 2001, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science and Women's and Gender Studies.
