Kyle James has over 20 years of work experience, starting from their role as Master Aeronautical Metalworker in the New Zealand Defence Force. Kyle then worked as an Automotive Exhaust Designer/Fabricator for MILLE MIGLIA CLASSICS LTD and as a Telecommunication Technician for Visionstream Pty Ltd. Kyle also served as the Senior Climb Guide/Bridge Coordinator at BridgeClimb Sydney during the 2000 Olympics.
Kyle then worked as a Project Manager/Designer for Si-Hermes Ltd, managing upgrade and installation projects in various industries. Kyle later joined Southward Engineering Ltd as a Product Design Engineer, specializing in automotive exhaust design.
In 2004, Kyle became the Transmission Line Engineer at ABB, where they handled engineering aspects of overhead lines work. Kyle then moved on to AECOM as a Senior Consultant and later as a Principal Consultant, leading technical teams and overseeing design and construct projects.
Currently, Kyle is with GROUNDLINE, where they have held multiple roles including Senior Transmission Line Engineer, Principal Consultant/Operations Lead NZ, General Manager Consulting - NZ, and their most recent role as General Manager Consulting ANZ. In their current role, they are responsible for merging technical teams, managing finances, and strategic planning.
Throughout their career, Kyle has gained expertise in transmission and distribution line design, project management, construction activities, resource management, tendering, and business development. Kyle has a deep understanding of the consulting business and has successfully grown teams and exceeded targets.
Kyle James has a diverse education history in various fields, primarily focusing on business management and mechanical engineering.
In 2023, they completed a Mini MBA program at the International Business Management Institute (IBMI), specializing in Business Administration and Management. During the same year, they also obtained a diploma in Project Management from IBMI.
From 2019 to 2021, Kyle pursued a Diploma of Business Management at Aspire2 International, further expanding their knowledge and skills in the field.
In 2007, they completed a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/Mechanical Technology/Technician from the University of Southern Queensland. Prior to that, they received education from the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand in Mechanical Engineering/Mechanical Technology/Technician from 2003 to 2005. In 2003, they also studied Mechanical Engineering Related Technologies/Technicians at TAFE NSW.
Additionally, in 1996, Kyle obtained an Advanced Trade Certificate in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering Technology/Technician from NZDF (New Zealand Defence Force).
Kyle has also acquired several certifications throughout their career. In February 2023, they became a Chartered Manager through the Chartered Management Institute. In October 2022, they achieved Affiliate Membership with Engineers Australia. Furthermore, in September 2021, they became a Fellow of the Institute of Managers and Leaders Australia and New Zealand and a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management. In March 2019, they obtained the Certified Member (CM) designation from the NZ Pacific Business Council. Finally, in 1995, they received the ASME IX Welding Certification and Mil Std 1595a Aircraft Weld Certification from the New Zealand Defence Force.
It is worth noting that Kyle James also has a duplicate Chartered Manager certification from the Institute of Managers and Leaders Australia and New Zealand, although the specific month and year of obtaining this certification are not provided.
