Daniel Dedrick

Senior Vice President of EPC and Technical Operations at GridStor

Daniel Dedrick has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning several companies and roles. Daniel began their career at Sandia National Laboratories in 2000, where they worked in the Systems Engineering Department as a Mechanical Engineer and Senior Engineer. During their time at Sandia, they developed innovative solutions for protecting lithography vacuum system components from contamination.

In 2003, Daniel transitioned within Sandia to the Energy Systems Engineering Department, where they served as a Senior Mechanical Engineer. In this role, they led the DOE EERE funded Hydrogen Storage Program, developing engineering solutions for managing the risk associated with reactive metal hydrides for energy applications. Daniel also developed high-performance compact heat exchangers for rapid refueling in metal hydride systems for fuel cell vehicle applications.

Daniel's career at Sandia continued to progress, and they became the Manager of the Hydrogen and Combustion Technologies team in 2010. Daniel led a team of scientists, engineers, and technologists focused on applied energy research and development in hydrogen, biomass, and combustion technologies. As the Director of Sandia's Hydrogen and Fuel Cells Program, they managed a $6 million per year program aimed at accelerating the deployment of fuel cell technologies. Through effective management and talent development practices, they grew their department from 6 staff to 24.

In 2015, Daniel left Sandia and joined SunPower Corporation as the Manager of Performance Engineering, where they oversaw the system performance modeling, product testing and analysis, and project development support for the company. Daniel was responsible for ensuring the quality and accuracy of SunPower's performance and energy modeling infrastructure.

In 2016, Daniel moved to NRG Energy, where they served as the Senior Manager of Technology and Product in the Development Engineering and Technical Operations department. In this role, they were responsible for the development of solar, wind, and energy storage systems for NRG Renewables projects and assets. Daniel designed and implemented development engineering tools and processes to accelerate project design and equipment selection, and they played a key role in the development of NRG Renewables' energy storage solutions.

Daniel joined Clearway Energy Group in 2016, initially as the Senior Manager of Development Engineering and Technical Services. Over the years, they took on various roles within the company, including Director of Systems Integration, Director of Project Technical Services, and Head of Project Technical Services. In these roles, they were responsible for EPC qualification, selection, and contracting for solar and battery energy storage facilities. Daniel also played a vital role in developing advanced technologies, such as long-duration storage and on-site hydrogen electrolysis, for Clearway's projects.

Most recently, Daniel joined GridStor in 2022 as the Vice President of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction, and later transitioned to the role of Senior Vice President of EPC and Technical Operations. In this position, they are responsible for the project delivery and operations of grid-scale energy storage facilities across the US. Daniel'steam manages interconnection, technology selection, development engineering, procurement, construction management, and asset management for GridStor's project portfolio.

Overall, Daniel Dedrick's work experience demonstrates their expertise in energy storage, renewables, and engineering project management.

Daniel Dedrick received their B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Washington State University, where they attended from 1997 to 2000. Daniel then pursued further education and obtained an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, from 2001 to 2002.
