Molly Tafoya has extensive experience in communications and advocacy roles. Molly is currently working as the Senior Director of Communications at The Greenlining Institute, a position they have held since January 2023. Previously, they served as the Director of Communications for the same organization from June 2021 to March 2023.
Before joining The Greenlining Institute, Molly worked at Open to All as the Director of Nonprofit Programs from November 2017 to February 2021. In this role, they directed and cultivated the Open to All Advisory Council and the Public Education Coalition, collaborating with advocacy organizations to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts among business members of the coalition.
From October 2016 to January 2020, Molly served as the Director of Community Engagement at Movement Advancement Project (MAP), where they maximized the impact of MAP's work with organizations advocating for LGBTQ equality. Molly collaborated with the policy and communications teams to distribute MAP's messaging and policy resources widely.
In 2015, Molly worked as a Senior Field Representative at the California State Assembly, where they covered constituent issues and led legislative research and policy development related to early childhood education. Prior to that, they were the Director of Public Affairs at Early Edge California from January 2015 to October 2015, where they developed and implemented strategies to achieve legislative and policy goals for early childhood education.
Molly has also held communication and advocacy positions at One Iowa, Full Court Press Communications, Congresswoman Mazie Hirono's office, National Center for Lesbian Rights, and the No on Prop 8 Campaign. Their experience in these roles has equipped their with a diverse skill set in communications, public affairs, community engagement, and legislative advocacy.
Molly Tafoya attended La Pietra - Hawaii School for Girls from 1996 to 2003 and obtained their high school degree. Following this, they enrolled in Georgetown University from 2003 to 2007, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree. Their studies at Georgetown focused on the fields of Government, Spanish, and Women's Studies.
