Dr. Cherry Akins-Smith has been in the healthcare field since 2000. Dr. Cherry began their career as a Staff Nurse and Charge Nurse at Kapiolani Hospital at Pali Momi. In 2004, they became a Registered Nurse at Indiana University Health. From 2007 to 2009, they were the Director of Nursing at Greystone Healthcare Management and then moved to American Senior Communities as a Clinical Support Specialist, Director of Nursing Services, and Director of Nursing. In 2014, they became the Regional Director of Clinical Services at Life Care Centers of America. In 2016, they took on the role of Quality Assurance Consultant at HCR ManorCare. In 2018, they became the Director of Clinical Services at Greencroft Communities and the Senior Pastor and Founder at New Restoration Unity Fellowship. Additionally, since 2010, they have been on the Board of Directors for Creating Positive Relationships.
Dr. Cherry Akins-Smith began their educational journey in 1997 at Metropolitan Community College, where they earned an Associate of Science in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse. Dr. Cherry then attended Indiana University\u2013Purdue University Indianapolis, graduating in 2007 with a BSN degree. Afterward, they obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Pastoral Leadership from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2011. Finally, they completed their Doctor of Ministry degree in Divinity/Ministry from Ecumenical Theological Seminary in 2016.
