David McElroy has extensive experience in the biotechnology industry. David founded and served as the CEO of Calysta, a synthetic biology company focused on natural gas-to-liquid fuels and chemicals. David was responsible for company formation, business plan development, and IP strategy. Additionally, they served as the Chief Business Officer and Executive Director of Ingenza Ltd, where they executed the company's long-term business strategy and expanded relationships with new and existing customers. David also held positions at Maxygen/Verdia and Monsanto, where they managed budget and finance activities and led molecular biology discovery research for corn biotechnology. Furthermore, David has worked in various roles at Green Bioactives, Targeted Growth, Inc., DuPont, and Dekalb Genetics, contributing their expertise in business development, strategic planning, and executive leadership.

David McElroy earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc - Hons, 1st Class) degree in Biology, General from the University of Aberdeen, where they studied from 1982 to 1986. David then pursued higher education and obtained a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Cornell University, completing their studies from 1986 to 1991. In 2000, they attended the London Business School and earned an AMP (Advanced Management Program) degree in Management.
