Kathy LaBarre has a diverse work experience spanning several decades. Kathy began their career in 1975 with the Social Security Administration, where they held various positions including clerical work, service representation, and claims representation. In 2008, Kathy joined Granite State Independent Living (GSIL) as the Work Incentives Planning & Assistance Program Director, where they were responsible for program documentation, report writing, data gathering, and budgets. Kathy also conducted trainings, outreach activities, and maintained the Work Incentives Resource Center website.

In 2008, Kathy LaBarre attended Virginia Commonwealth University, where they studied Federal Work Incentives for individuals with disabilities.
