Sam Jewell is a Senior Software Engineer at Grafana Labs. Prior to joining Grafana, Sam was the Head of Data at BridgeU. In this role, Sam was responsible for leading the team responsible for Data Science and Data Engineering. Sam has also worked as a Frontend Developer at GoCardless and as a Research Associate at the Helen Hamlyn Centre.

Sam has extensive experience in the field of data and has used this expertise to help BridgeU scale effectively and efficiently. Sam has also developed new skills during their career, including Python, Pandas, fuzzy-matching and TF-IDF, BigQuery, MongoDB, Apache Beam, DataFlow and various other GCP products.

Sam Jewell completed a MEng in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Cambridge, where they achieved a distinction. Sam then went on to complete an MA in Innovation Design Engineering at the Royal College of Art, achieving a merit. Sam Jewell then completed Course 2 in Mechanical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, with a 4.9 GPA in Product Design Engineering. Finally, Sam Jewell completed an MA in Innovation Design Engineering at Imperial College London.

Sam Jewell reports to Anthony Woods, CTO & Co-Founder. They work with Ryan Mckinley - VP, Applications, Daniel Lee - Director, Software Engineering, and Mick Gregg - Senior Engineering Manager.
