Rafael Lima Joia has been working in the software engineering industry since 2003. In 2003, they began as a Java Developer Trainee at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro's NCE. In 2005, they joined CTIS as a Java Software Engineer for the Health Ministerium, where they won the Duke's Choice Award - Massive Scale Award of Sun JavaOne Conference 2003. In 2006, they joined Embratel as a Java Software Engineer for Coppetec, and DClick Web & Mobile Solutions as a Senior Software Development Engineer for Petrobras. That same year, they also joined Senac as a Java Instructor. In 2007, they joined PETROBRAS PETROLEO BRASILEIRO SA as a Junior Information Technology Architect, and was promoted to Information Technology Architect and Senior Information Technology Architect. In 2019, they joined INESC Technology and Science - Associate Laboratory as a Software Engineer. In 2021, they joined xgeeks as a Backend Software Engineer. Most recently, in 2022, they joined Daloop as a Tech Lead | Backend | Java and Senior Backend Software Engineer, where they wrote, modified, and maintained scalable web APIs in Java 8 and 11, Quarkus, Hibernate, JUnit, Wiremock, Mockito, DBUnit, Docker & Swarm, Portainer, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Keycloak, Gitlab, Jenkins, Kafka, and Kibana.
Rafael Lima Joia obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro between 2000 and 2005. In 2006, they obtained an Oracle/Sun Java Certified Programmer certification from Oracle. From 2013 to 2018, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Law from the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro. Rafael is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Software Engineering at the Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto, which they expect to complete in 2021.
