Niamh Callaghan

Niamh Callaghan is a highly experienced public sector professional currently serving as a Principal Officer at the Department of Public Expenditure & Reform since November 2019, overseeing the Budget Strategy and Coordination Unit. Niamh has also managed responsibilities for the Transport, Tourism and Sport Vote, as well as the Children and Youth Affairs Vote and the Prevention and Early Intervention Unit. An active member of the Irish Government Economic and Evaluation Service (IGEES), Niamh previously held roles as a Special Adviser, Assistant Principal, and Economist Administrative Officer at the same department from June 2012 to November 2019, focusing on the Health Vote within the Labour Market and Enterprise Policy Division. Niamh's early career includes a research internship at the Economic and Social Research Institute, where engagement in projects related to tourist patterns and climate change occurred, and a finance internship at Mutual of America. Niamh holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Tilburg University and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Trinity College Dublin.
