Aileen Hughes is an experienced professional currently serving as an Assurance Manager at AIB since March 2023, focusing on independent review and assurance of the Group's internal control systems. With significant contributions as a Steering Committee Member for the Department of Public Expenditure & Reform since October 2019, Aileen is involved in implementing reforms to enhance Ireland's public financial standards. Additionally, Aileen chairs the Audit & Risk Committee at McAuley Place and the Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy (CIPFA) in the Republic of Ireland. Previous roles include Senior Manager in Internal Audit at Crowe Ireland, Internal Controls Analyst at ESB, and various auditing positions at the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General, demonstrating a strong background in financial control and risk management. Aileen holds multiple degrees and qualifications, including a Higher Diploma in Science in Data Analytics and Fellow membership in Accounting.
