Wei Chai is a highly experienced engineering leader currently serving as Principal Engineer and Engineering Director at YouTube Music for Google since April 2022. Previously, Wei Chai held similar roles at Waymo from January 2019 to April 2022 and at Google from September 2010 to January 2019, managing multiple teams and over 30 engineers. Wei Chai's expertise spans areas such as app search and recommendations, on-device deep learning applications, and ads quality targeting, along with a strong background in natural language processing and video search. Earlier roles include Research Scientist positions at eBay Advertising and GE Global Research, and a Senior Software Engineer at Truveo. Wei Chai holds a PhD and a Master's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Media Lab, along with two Master's degrees and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Peking University.
