Madeleine Clare Elish, PhD, serves as the Head of Responsible AI for Cloud at Google and has held the position of Senior Research Scientist. Elish is recognized for leadership as the FAccT Conference General Co-Chair and has significant experience at the Data & Society Research Institute as Program Director for AI on the Ground, as well as Research Lead and Research Analyst. Additionally, Elish contributed as an Expert Judge for the IBM Watson XPRIZE at XPRIZE and volunteered as a Case Worker for the American Red Cross, focusing on Services to Armed Forces. Elish holds a PhD in Anthropology from Columbia University and a Master of Science in Comparative Media Studies from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
