Ali Douraghy is currently the Director of Climate & Energy Research at Google, a position held since August 2023. Prior to this, Ali served as Principal Deputy Under Secretary for Science & Innovation and Chief of Staff in the Office of the Under Secretary for Science & Energy at the U.S. Department of Energy from January 2021 to August 2023. Ali's previous roles include Chief Strategy Officer for the Earth & Environmental Sciences Area at Berkeley Lab and Project Director for the New Voices program at The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. With a strong background in science and technology leadership, Ali also directed Science & Technology initiatives at USAID Indonesia and participated in global science diplomacy efforts. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Biomedical Physics and an MS in Biomedical Engineering from UCLA, along with a BS in Bioengineering from UC San Diego.
