Anthony Smith has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Anthony started their career as an intern at Ferranti Computer Systems in 1983, where they worked on designing bit-slice CPUs for military applications. Anthony then worked as a research scientist at Philips Research from 1988 to 1990, focusing on research projects. From 1990 to 1996, they worked at Hitachi Europe, initially as a research scientist, and later as a senior research scientist. Anthony'sresearch at Hitachi Europe focused on real-time machine vision processing and included projects on hand gesture recognition and facial expression recognition in real-world environments. Anthony then joined Hitachi Telecom in 1996 as a senior research scientist and team lead. In 1998, they joined Innovance as the Director of Algorithms. Finally, in 2001, Anthony Smith joined Goody Goody Liquor as the head of technology and software development, responsible for all technology operations, including hardware and software development, research, and innovation.
Anthony Smith holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from The University of Edinburgh, which they completed from 1985 to 1988. Prior to that, they earned a BSc(Hons) in Computer Technology CNAA from Teesside University, specializing in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, between 1981 and 1985. In terms of additional certifications, Anthony has obtained various online certifications, including courses on Feature Engineering, ML Pipelines on Google Cloud, MLOps Fundamentals, and more from Coursera.
