Derek Mountford has held various executive positions in the healthcare industry. Derek started as an Executive Director at Mercy Physicians of Oklahoma in 2000 and later became Vice President of Operations at Mercy in 2012. In 2018, they took on the role of Chief Operating Officer at Good Shepherd Hospice. Currently, they are serving as an Executive Director at Mercy Health Center.

Derek Mountford pursued their education in a systematic manner. Derek first attended Oklahoma State University from 1985 to 1987, where they obtained a bachelor's degree in Management and Marketing. Following this, they enrolled at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center from 1989 to 1991, where they earned a master's degree in Healthcare Administration.
