George Thomson is an experienced parks and open space management professional with a strong background in ecological restoration. Currently serving as the Parks and Open Space Manager for the City of Goleta since February 2020, George has previously held significant roles such as Parks Capital Projects Supervisor and Creeks Restoration Planner for the City of Santa Barbara from November 2007 to January 2020. Earlier in the career, George worked as an Ecological Restoration Project Manager at UC Santa Barbara from January 2002 to November 2007 and as Natural Reserve Steward at Coal Oil Point Reserve for the University of California from January 2000 to January 2001. George holds a Bachelor of Arts in Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology from UC Santa Barbara and has furthered education at the University of California, Davis, and the University of Tasmania.
