Surya Veluswamy is an experienced mining professional currently serving as the Alt Unit Manager for UG Mining at Gold Fields since September 2015. In this role, Surya oversees contractor performance to meet production and safety targets and manages infrastructure projects amid limited resources. Previous positions include Senior Engineer roles in Mine Planning and Mine Production, where responsibilities encompassed team mentoring, production management, and ventilation system improvements during critical situations. Surya's career began with hands-on roles in underground operations, progressing through various engineering positions, including project management and statutory ventilation oversight. Surya holds a Master of Engineering in Mining and Mineral Engineering from the Western Australian School of Mines and a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from PSG College of Technology.
