Co-founder and Chief Product Officer at Thematic

Brian Wey has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Brian is currently the Co-founder and Chief Product Officer at Thematic since November 2021.

Before that, they were the Product Lead at Plaid from November 2020 to November 2021, where they led the product for Transfer, a money movement service via ACH rails. Brian scaled the product from 0 to 1 and facilitated payments of tens of millions of dollars for several dozen fintech customers.

Prior to Plaid, Brian worked at Airbnb for six and a half years, starting in July 2014. Brian served as the Product Lead (Head of Product, Airbnb Payments) and played a pivotal role in scaling the payments processing capabilities from hundreds of millions to hundreds of billions of dollars. Brian also expanded local payment processing in over 190 countries, with a focus on challenging regions like Brazil, India, and China.

Before Airbnb, Brian was the Director of Product Management at PayPal from July 2011 to July 2014. Brian led the Digital Goods merchant segment and developed products and services for global digital merchants.

In 2009, Brian held positions at Zong as the Director of Product Management and at Bleacher Report as a Product Manager. At Zong, they worked from October 2009 to July 2011, and at Bleacher Report, they served from February 2009 to October 2009.

Brian also has experience as a Product Manager at Cake Financial from February 2008 to November 2008, where they led the turnaround and relaunch of the product within six months.

Brian'searly career includes engineering project management at Apple Inc. from June 2005 to January 2008 and a producer role at Yahoo! from January 2001 to November 2004.

Brian Wey attended the University of California, Berkeley from 1996 to 2000, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Legal Studies and Business Administration. Brian'sfield of study at the university was focused on these two areas. Additionally, they had another education experience at NEHS, although the exact duration and nature of this experience were not provided.
