Marieke Vermeersch has a strong background in corporate communication and investor relations. Marieke is currently working as the Vice President and Head of Global Corporate Communication at Galapagos, where they lead the global communication team and oversees the development and implementation of internal and external communication strategies. Prior to this role, they served as the Senior Director of Global Corporate Communication at Galapagos.

Before joining Galapagos, Vermeersch founded and served as the CEO of M.V.LifeSci Consulting BV. In this role, they provided strategic corporate communication support, including reviewing and optimizing communication materials and investment propositions. Marieke also developed and executed investor and media relations strategies and prepared and attended capital markets and media events.

Vermeersch also has experience in business development and investor relations. Marieke worked at Ablynx as the Director of Business Development, Director of Investor Relations and Corporate Communication, and Manager of Investor Relations. Additionally, they served as a Board Member at BelIR - The Belgian Investor Relations Association.

Earlier in their career, Vermeersch worked as an Investment Analyst at Degroof Petercam, specializing in the pharma and biotech industry. Marieke also held roles as a Senior Consultant at Altran Europe, Corporate Development and IP Officer at Devgen, and Associate at the Belgian Bioindustries Association.

Marieke Vermeersch completed their education with an MBA in Finance and Marketing from Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management from 2004 to 2006. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Science degree in Bioscience Engineering from Ghent University between 1994 and 1999. As part of their studies, they also participated in the Erasmus Exchange Program at L'Institut Agro Montpellier from 1997 to 1998.
