Jan Van Der Schueren has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and companies. Jan is currently a Member of the Board of Directors at MEDVIA since June 2022. Prior to that, they held various positions at Galapagos, including VP Site Operations, Site Head, Discovery Site Head, Senior Program Director, Senior Director Discovery Informatics, Director Discovery Informatics, and Senior Scientist Bioinformatics. Jan worked at Galapagos from 1999 to 2021. Before joining Galapagos, Jan Van Der Schueren held research positions at KU Leuven, including Post-doctoral fellow and Research associate from 1996 to 1999.

Jan Van Der Schueren holds a PhD in Biotechnology from KU Leuven, which they obtained from 1992 to 1996. Prior to that, they completed a Master's degree in Engineer in Chemistry and Agricultural Industries, also at KU Leuven, from 1987 to 1992. In their earlier education, Jan attended OLV College in Halle, Belgium from 1981 to 1987 and studied Greek-mathematics.
