Nikolay P. Nezlin began their education in 1972 at Moscow State University in Moscow, Russia, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology in 1977. Following this, they pursued further education at the P.P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology, Moscow, Russia, from 1977 to 1981, earning a Master of Science degree in Oceanography. Nezlin continued their academic journey at the same institute and obtained a Ph.D. in Biological Oceanography from 1981 to 1983.
