Sunny Chea has a diverse work experience that spans multiple industries. Sunny'smost recent role was as a Senior Software Engineer at Global Music Rights, where they have been working since 2020. Prior to that, they worked at Alcon for five years, starting as a Software Engineer and later being promoted to Senior Software Engineer I. In this role, they took on additional responsibilities such as project management and providing guidance to teams developing Alcon's products.
In 2016, Sunny founded Pave & Persist, LLC, an apparel company focused on spreading a positive message of personal empowerment. Sunny successfully ran this company for two years. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Software Engineer at AGI Innovations Inc, where they were involved in designing and implementing features for AGI3's natural language processor. Sunny also collaborated with AI researchers to improve internal research tools.
Sunny gained experience in software quality assurance as a Software QA Analyst at SQA², where they tested a client's web application and learned Python on the job. Sunny also contributed to the company's knowledge base by updating internal Wiki pages.
Before entering the software industry, Sunny had various roles, including an Application Developer Intern at the City of Long Beach, a Line Service Specialist at Alerion Aviation, and a Barista at Starbucks. Sunny also served as a Junior Varsity Badminton Coach for the Long Beach Unified School District.
Sunny Chea obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science from California State University, Long Beach. This degree was earned between 2006 and 2013. Following this, Sunny pursued further education and completed a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Computer Science with a focus on Software Engineering from Colorado Technical University. This degree was obtained between 2016 and 2018. Additionally, Sunny obtained a certification in Computational Neuroscience from Coursera Verified Certificates in June 2015.
