Dr. Yasemin Biro Kirtman serves as the Senior Advisor on Policy, Compliance, and Conflict Resolution at the Global Environment Facility (GEF) since September 2011, where notable contributions include developing the GEF Knowledge and Learning Approach and managing the accreditation process to expand partnership engagement. Dr. Kirtman has held various leadership roles, including Senior Policy Advisor on Energy and Climate Change at the United Nations Foundation and Climate Change Program Manager at GEF, where responsibilities focused on renewable energy and sustainable transport. With a PhD in Energy and Resources from the University of California, Berkeley, Dr. Kirtman has a rich background in academia and environmental consultancy, previously serving as an Assistant Professor at Istanbul Technical University and collaborating with organizations such as the World Bank and WWF-Turkey. Extensive academic qualifications include multiple degrees in economics and energy, coupled with international experience in climate action and sustainable development initiatives.
