George Sepsakos is a Principal at Groom Law Group, Chartered since May 2011, specializing in ERISA, federal tax, and securities law, with a focus on Title I of ERISA, including fiduciary responsibility and prohibited transaction issues. Previously, from January 2010 to April 2011, George served as an ERISA Enforcement Advisor at the U.S. Department of Labor, managing civil investigations and examinations of employee benefit plans. In early 2009, George was an extern at the Internal Revenue Service, where field audit manuals were drafted regarding new minimum funding rules for defined benefit plans. Earlier in 2007, George worked as a law clerk at Wright Robinson Osthimer & Tatum, conducting research on litigation and discovery issues. Educational qualifications include an LLM in Taxation with a focus on Employee Benefits Law from Georgetown University Law Center, a JD from the University of Michigan Law School, and a BA in Economics and Criminal Justice from Michigan State University.
