Roy Paterson is the current head of product and co-founder at Giverrang. Roy has over fifteen years of experience in software engineering and product management.
Paterson began their career as a software engineer at SmartBear Software in August 2006. Roy was the fifth employee at the company and helped grow it until it was acquired in 2009. At SmartBear, Paterson created the Collaborator web application using Google Web Toolkit (GWT) and Javascript/HTML/CSS front end, Java servlets and bespoke ORM system connecting to Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL databases. Roy also developed an Eclipse plugin with Eclipse 3.2 thru 4.3, integrating with plugins from Tasktop, Perforce, Accurev, Clearcase, and several open source SCM plugin providers. In addition, they developed cross-platform command-line, tray notifier, and GUI client applications using Eclipse RCP/SWT and XML-RPC communication with a server. Paterson also architected core internal frameworks, Ant-based build systems, and tools. Roy integrated the product with several version control systems and evangelized the company at trade shows and customer demos.
In February 2014, Paterson left SmartBear to become the technical product manager at Signpost. At Signpost, they doubled the number of positive reviews generated for businesses on Google, Facebook, and Yelp. Roy also doubled the number of customers referring their friends to business services. Roy Paterson has a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
