Michael Lillis is a seasoned humanitarian professional currently serving as Senior Manager for Humanitarian at GiveDirectly since September 2023. Prior experience includes significant roles at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, where Lillis worked as a humanitarian and development policy advisor for the East Africa Department and led the Humanitarian and Livelihoods Team at the British Embassy in South Sudan. At the Department for International Development, Lillis was the Ebola Response Team Leader, managing the UK's response during the Ebola outbreak in the DRC. Additional positions encompass roles in various UK government departments, including the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. Lillis holds an MA in Conflict, Security and Development from King’s College London and a BA in History from the University of Nottingham.
