Matthew Ball began their work experience as a Visiting Researcher at GRNSPG, University of Pisa, where they performed uncertainty analysis on neutron kinetics predictions for nuclear reactors and prepared instructional material for the nuclear regulatory agency of Lithuania. Matthew then moved on to McMaster University, where they held the positions of Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the field of nuclear engineering and Sessional Faculty, teaching courses in Engineering Physics. After that, they joined Street Contxt as a Lead Data Scientist, focusing on statistical inference and model development, including machine learning and natural language processing. Matthew is currently working as the Director of Data Science at Cognota.
Matthew Ball completed their secondary education at Honourable Vincent Massey Secondary School. Matthew then pursued a Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Windsor from 2001 to 2005. Following this, they continued their education at the same university and obtained a Master of Applied Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from 2005 to 2007. Matthew Ball further advanced their academic qualifications by obtaining a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from McMaster University between 2008 and 2011.
