Annika Thies serves as the Head of the EU Project Office at DESY since June 2022, previously holding significant roles at Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft from October 2011 to June 2022, including Director and Deputy Director of the Brussels office, as well as legal counsel. Prior experience includes working as a lawyer for the European Commission from May 2008 to September 2011, and as a legal advisor for the Helmholtz Association and DLR from October 2005 to May 2008 and October 2001 to October 2005, respectively. Annika Thies possesses a law degree from Universität Trier and an Abitur from Gymnasium Ernestinum Celle.
