Samantha Tracy has been working in the oil and gas industry since 2012. Samantha began their career at Excellence Logging as a Geosteering Geologist, before being promoted to Senior Technical Adviser, Geosteering Division. In this role, they oversaw and provided guidance to the less experienced geosteering staff, updated the division standards, procedures, and protocols, and assisted the Geosteering Manager with multiple technical projects. Samantha also trained potential geosteering employees, provided continuing education for current geosteering employees, improved the geosteering training program, and continued with the day-to-day geosteering duties. Samantha then worked as a Logging Geologist IV at the same company, where they monitored gas (including H2S), collected and analyzed cutting samples, created logs with the gas data, sample descriptions/pictures, drilling variables, mud properties, gamma and MWD surveys, ROP and other relevant information.
In 2017, they took a Temporary Contract Operations Geologist position at a Mid-Size Privately Held Oil and Gas Operator, where they assisted in the planning and execution of the drilling of O&G wells in the Utica Point Pleasant play in Ohio. Her responsibilities included creating and maintaining structure maps, isopach maps, and cross sections in GeoGraphix, creating accurate Geological Prognosis, and coordinating and managing the onsite Mud Logging and the remote Geosteering teams. Samantha also actively geosteered wells using SES while communicating target lines to the drilling engineer that would best keep the wellbore in the production zone.
In 2021, Samantha Tracy joined GeoVision as a Geosteering Team Lead and Geosteering Geologist.
