Michael Jones

Michael Jones has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Michael started their career in 2003 as a Shack Sites Project Manager at the Department of Primary Industries, Water and Environment Tasmania. Michael later became the Development Projects Section Manager, overseeing property development, planning, and civil construction projects.

From 2004 to 2009, Michael worked as the Branch Manager of Crown Land Services, responsible for managing a large portion of Tasmania's Crown property estate. During this time, they led projects to improve the organization's effectiveness.

Between 2009 and 2011, Michael served as the Operations Branch Manager of Aboriginal Heritage Tasmania, where they were responsible for the regulation of all Aboriginal cultural heritage in Tasmania.

In 2011, Michael joined Sinclair Knight Merz as a Senior Archaeologist/Project Manager. Michael managed projects in archaeology, cultural resource management, planning, business systems analysis, and civil contracting.

From 2013 to 2018, Michael worked at PSMA Australia, initially as the Group Manager - Project Services & Support. Michael later became the A/Group Manager Technology Services and then the Senior Leader of PSMA Australia. Michael played a key role in the organization's transformation to an agile corporate model and led the rebuilding of the IT infrastructure squad.

In 2019, Michael joined the Australian Digital Health Agency as a Project Manager, delivering projects to improve the My Health Record system.

From 2020 to 2022, Michael worked as a Project Manager with the Business Systems Team at Snowy Hydro Limited, focusing on delivering business solutions for Australia's sustainable energy future.

Lastly, in 2020, Michael's family established Kamae Care, a disability support service firm, where they served as the Chief Administration Officer.

Currently, Michael is a Project Manager at Geoscience Australia, contributing their expertise to the organization.

Michael Jones has a diverse education history. Michael obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Archaeology from La Trobe University between 1986 and 1989. Michael later pursued a Graduate Diploma with Honours in Environmental Studies from the University of Tasmania from 1998 to 1999. In the year 2000 to 2001, they completed a Graduate Diploma with Honours in Spatial Information Science from the same university. Continuing their education, they achieved a Diploma in Project Management from the University of New England in 2004. Finally, they earned an MBA in Project Management and Public Sector Management from the University of New England, completing their studies in 2010.

In addition to their formal education, Michael Jones has obtained various certifications in different fields. These certifications include Scrum Master from The Knowledge Academy in 2018, AgilePM Practitioner from APMG International in 2017, CPCCOHS1001A Work Safety in the Construction Industry (White Card) from Blue Dog Training in 2012, Legal Procedures Certificate (Authorised Officer Under: Aboriginal Relics Act 1975, Crown Lands Act 1976, National Parks and Reserves Management Act 2002) from the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment (DPIPWE) in 2010, DPIW Leadership Development Program from the Department of Primary Industries and Water in 2007, Managers and Supervisors Occupational Health and Safety from TAFE Tasmania in 2002, Coastal Processes, Dynamic Planning Principles for Coastal Management, and Principles of Sustainable Management of Coastal Resources from Greening Australia in 1999.
