Philipp Schmidt-Thomé is an experienced geoscientist currently serving as the International Operations Director at the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK), a position held since April 1998, with a focus on integrating geosciences into sustainable development across various sectors. In addition to the role at GTK, Philipp Schmidt-Thomé is an Adjunct Professor at both the University of Helsinki and the Instituto Interuniversitario de Geografía, as well as a Visiting Lecturer at Aalto University, contributing to academic discourse through lecturing. Philipp Schmidt-Thomé holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from the University of Helsinki, specializing in climate change and land use planning, alongside postgraduate studies in Hydrogeology and a Master of Science in Geography from the University of Bonn.
