Robert Lipe is an accomplished software engineer with extensive experience in developing and leading innovative projects throughout their career. Currently serving as the Lead Developer for GPSBabel since August 2002, Robert has created an open-source, cross-platform tool with over 40 million downloads and has evolved its codebase from C to a C++ application using Qt. Robert has also contributed as a Volunteer Moderator for GPS/Tech topics at Groundspeak since 2006 and worked at Google from April 2007 to November 2019 as a Software Engineer on a high-profile product with over 1 billion downloads. Previous roles include lead developer at The SCO Group, focusing on cross-platform device driver infrastructure, and various engineering positions at Digi International, Arnet Corporation, and Tandy Training & Support Organization. Robert is self-educated and possesses a strong background in firmware, device drivers, and technology support.
