Steve Hellen is currently the Head of Information Management at the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), a role they assumed in January 2021. In this position, they lead a team of experts to deliver capacity strengthening and technical development programs for the Mine Action sector.

Steve Hellen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Science from Loyola University Maryland, which they completed from 1994 to 1998. Steve then pursued a Master of Science degree in Environmental Science and Policy at The Johns Hopkins University from 2002 to 2005. Following that, from 2006 to 2008, they obtained a Post-baccalaureate Certificate in Geographic Information Systems from Penn State University. In terms of certifications, Steve obtained a Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute in December 2008, and a Microsoft Certified Solution Developer certification from Microsoft in 2001.
