Hank Safferstein has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and industries. Hank began their career at Bristol-Myers Squibb as the Director of Worldwide Licensing and Life Cycle Management in the Cardiovascular and Metabolics division. From there, they moved on to Acorda Therapeutics, where they served as the Vice President of Corporate Development. Following these roles, they joined Omrix Biopharmaceuticals as the Vice President of Business Development.
In 2007, Safferstein became involved with Cognition Therapeutics, taking on multiple roles including Senior Vice President, President and CEO, and Board Director. At the same time, they also served as a Board Director for Complexa Inc. and Ariel Precision Medicine.
Safferstein's work experience also includes positions at Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse and Carnegie Mellon University, where they served as an Executive in Residence and Adjunct Professor, respectively.
Most recently, Safferstein has been the Chief Executive Officer of Generian. Hank also previously held the role of Executive in Residence at UPMC Enterprises.
Throughout their career, Safferstein has held various leadership positions and contributed to the growth and development of the companies they have been involved with.
Hank Safferstein's education history includes a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Biochemistry and Music Theory from Rutgers University, which they obtained from 1982 to 1986. Hank then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Neurobiology and Human Anatomy at the University of Louisville from 1986 to 1989. Afterwards, they completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Multiple Sclerosis at The University of Connecticut Health Center from 1989 to 1991. Additionally, they attended the American University Washington College of Law from 1992 to 1996, earning a Doctor of Law (JD) degree with a focus on Contracts, Intellectual Property, Food and Drug Law and Policy, and Securities Regulations. Lastly, Hank obtained a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree in Finance from Columbia Business School between 1998 and 2000.
