Steve Broughton is an experienced media relations professional currently serving as the Media Relations Manager at the General Medical Council since December 2015. In this role, Broughton leads the proactive media relations team, focusing on story development and pitching to various press outlets, as well as overseeing media relations for important launches and guidance issuance. Prior to this, Broughton held positions at The Co-operative Group, including PR Manager and Senior Public Relations Officer, where responsibilities encompassed media relations and communications planning for The Co-operative Food and other business divisions. Earlier career experiences include serving as Principal Communications Officer for the Environment Agency, Senior Reporter for Worcester News, and Trainee Reporter for Surrey & South London Newspapers. Broughton holds a qualification in journalism from City of Portsmouth College.
