Cathy Finnegan has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Cathy began their career as a Refuge Caseworker at Hestia Housing and Support in 2005 before transitioning to become a Domestic Violence Advocate at Victim Support in 2006. In 2009, they worked as a Research Assistant at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Cathy then joined Citizens Advice, where they held various roles including Assistant Social Policy Officer, Social Policy Officer, and Policy Researcher. Since 2014, Cathy has been working at the General Medical Council, where they have held positions such as Education Policy Administrator, Policy Officer, and currently, Head of Strategy and Planning - Standards and Ethics.

Cathy Finnegan obtained a BSc (Hons) degree in Anthropology from UCL between 2001 and 2004. Cathy then pursued further education at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) from 2007 to 2009, where they completed an MSc in Social Policy and Planning.
