Lance Whalen

Director, Strategy & Business Development at General Dynamics Mission Systems

Lance Whalen has a diverse work experience, beginning in 1980 at the Applied Optics Center as a Lead Technician for Diamond Turning. Lance then worked as a Supervisor for Diamond Turning at MRC from 1984 to 1987, followed by a role as an Engineer at the Applied Optics Center in 1987. In 1988, they became a Manufacturing Engineer at Kollmorgen Electro-Optical and worked there until 1990. Lance then joined Lockheed Martin as a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer until 1996. From 1996 to 2000, Lance worked as a Manager for Advanced Optics at Axsys Technologies. Lance then moved to Exotic Electro-Optics and served as the Manager for the Diamond Turning Business Unit from 2000 to 2004. Lance then joined Corning Incorporated as a Sr. Manager of Business Development from 2004 to 2009. Following that, they worked at Clear Align as a Director of Business Development from 2009 to 2010. Lance's most recent role was at General Dynamics Mission Systems, where they held various positions such as Director of Business Development for Global Imaging Technologies and Precision Structures & Optics (PSO). Currently, they serve as the Director of Strategy & Business Development at General Dynamics Mission Systems.

Lance Whalen received a Certificate in Tool & Die - Machine Shop Practices from SCTI - Sarasota County Technical Institute in 1980. Prior to that, they obtained a Diploma in General Education from Riverview High School in 1980. In addition, they have obtained certifications in Professional Capture Manager from General Dynamics - Advanced Information Systems and in Advanced Negotiation from Scotwork, both in 2014.
