Marijke van Beukering-Huijbregts currently serves as Burgemeester of Gemeente Nieuwegein since June 2023. Previously, Marijke held the position of Lid van de Tweede Kamer voor D66 from January 2020 to June 2023, focusing on issues related to AOW & pensions, income policy, and safety among other areas. Marijke has extensive experience in social domains, including roles as Programmamanager transformatie for Breed Spectrum Aanbieders Jeugdzorg Regio Amersfoort, consultant at Scale Management Consultants, and project leader at Rode Kruis Nederland. Additionally, Marijke was Wethouder in Gemeente IJsselstein from 2010 to 2017, achieving significant results in youth problematics, crisis management for refugees, and socio-economic development. Marijke’s educational background includes attendance at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Open Universiteit, as well as a diploma in European Secretarial Studies from Schoevers College.
