Marijke Zewuster has extensive experience in public finance and economics, currently serving as an Extern lid Rekenkamer Heemskerk since September 2023. Previously, Marijke held significant roles at Gemeente Purmerend from May 2015 to May 2022, including Voorzitter and Extern lid of the Rekenkamercommissie for Purmerend & Beemster. A long tenure at ABN AMRO Bank N.V. from August 1989 until December 2021 saw Marijke rise to Head of Emerging Markets & Commodity Research in Group Economics, with a focus on Latin America, Russia, and Country Risk issues. Earlier positions included Senior Economist and Economist roles at ABN AMRO and extern lid Rekenkamercommissie at Gemeente Purmerend from May 2009 to May 2014. Marijke began a career in education as a Teacher of Economics at Montessori Lyceum Amsterdam and as an assistant lecturer at CEDLA. Marijke holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Amsterdam, completed in 1987, specializing in International Finance and Development Studies.
