Zach Martinez

Counsel And Policy Advisor at Gary Community Ventures

Zach Martinez is a legal professional with a robust history in public policy and advocacy. Currently serving as Counsel and Policy Advisor at Gary Community Ventures since December 2021, Zach played a pivotal role in the development of Proposition 123, overseeing legal guidance, stakeholder engagement, and the passage of its implementation bill, HB23-1304. Prior experience includes an Associate position at Hogan Lovells where advisory work focused on COVID-19 safety procedures and labor issues. Zach has also worked within government, including roles with the Office of Governor John Hickenlooper and the Office of Senator Michael Bennet, as well as conducting civil rights investigations at the U.S. Department of Education. Earlier experience included working with Advocates for Justice and Education, Inc. and serving as a Public Interest Fellow at Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago. Zach holds a Master in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School, a JD from Georgetown University Law Center, and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Chicago.
