Sofia Omari has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of medical research. Since 2023, they have been serving as a Senior Staff Scientist at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research. Prior to this, they worked as a Conjoint Lecturer at UNSW from 2022. From 2022 to 2023, Sofia worked as a Postdoctoral Scientist at St. Vincent's Centre for Applied Medical Research, where they conducted research activities on pre-clinical drug testing for leukaemia models. Sofia also worked as a Research Officer at the Children's Cancer Institute from 2020 to 2022, focusing on identifying new protein targets in pediatric leukemia. Sofia started their career as a Research Officer at the Australian National University, where they worked on primary immunodeficiency using murine models from 2016 to 2020. Additionally, Sofia worked at the University of Tasmania as a Tutor in Immunology, Research Assistant, and Project Researcher from 2015 to 2016. Sofia began their career as a Medical Laboratory Scientist at KAUH from 2008 to 2009.
Sofia Omari completed their Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Medical Laboratory Science/Research and Allied Professions from Jordan University of Science and Technology. Sofia attended this institution from 2001 to 2008. Later, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biomedical Sciences, specifically specializing in Haematology, from the University of Tasmania. Sofia obtained their PhD from 2010 to 2014.
