Shelley Garrett currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Safety & Operations at Garland Independent School District since August 2019. Prior to this role, Shelley held the position of Executive Director of Administrative Services at Mesquite Independent School District from July 2016 to August 2019. Shelley's extensive experience in educational settings includes roles as Director of Student & Family Services, Assistant Principal, and Teacher at Rockwall ISD from July 2004 to July 2016. Earlier in their career, Shelley worked in Corporate America as a Writer and Copy Editor from August 1992 to July 2004, contributing to various agencies and publications. Shelley holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce, a Master of Arts in Journalism/English from the University of North Texas, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications/Theatre from Stephen F. Austin State University.
