Christopher Cien

Lead Industrial Design Engineer at Gantri

Christopher Cien has worked in a variety of engineering roles since 2012. Christopher began their career as a Design Engineer for Swag Optics, where they used SolidWorks surfacing tools to develop concept ideas and create molds for sunglasses. In 2013, they worked as a Contract Machinist for Otherlab and a Contract Designer for Cytoflow, where they designed optical and fluid systems for a laser-based medical research device. Christopher also worked as a Contract Designer for Solve-It! Store / Pad Grip, where they used SolidWorks sheet-metal tools to design universal tablet mounts. In 2014, Christopher co-founded Freeform Industries, where they designed and developed custom gift shop products using 3D-printing, laser-cutting, photochemical machining, and lost-wax casting. Christopher also worked as a Contract Designer for Reuben Margolin, drawing and designing parts and assemblies to visualize designs, determine fabrication processes, and produce drawings for manufacture. In 2015, Christopher worked as a Contract Designer for Bling Brothers & Co., helping them design concepts and prototypes for their customizable championship rings. Since 2017, Christopher has been a Product Development Engineer at Architectural Lighting Works (ALW), where they design and develops commercial architectural lighting fixtures. In 2022, Christopher will become a Senior Industrial Design Engineer at Gantri.

Christopher Cien completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo from 2006 to 2012. Christopher also attended Helix Charter High School from 2002 to 2006. Additionally, they have obtained seven certifications from LinkedIn, including Learning Grasshopper (July 2020), Industrial Design Foundations (June 2020), Introducing Rhino 6 (June 2020), Learning KeyShot (June 2020), Programming Foundations: Fundamentals (June 2020), Rhino 6 Essential Training (June 2020), and Rhino: From Curves to Surfaces (June 2020).
