Bill Harrigan

Chief Technology Officer at Gamma Alloys Inc

Bill Harrigan has extensive work experience in the field of metal matrix composites and manufacturing techniques. Bill served as the Chief Technology Officer at Gamma Alloys Inc, where they patented a process for manufacturing aluminum matrix composites with spheroidized alumina reinforcement. Bill also led the development of low-cost, low-density bearing liners for helicopter transmissions. At Allyn Corp, they developed equipment and procedures for manufacturing boron carbide reinforced aluminum composites, including powder metallurgy vacuum hot pressing and CIP/Sinter techniques. Bill also produced tubing for golf shafts and bicycle frames. As General Manager at DWA Aluminum Composites USA, Inc., Harrigan developed manufacturing techniques for large structures with Graphite Fiber Reinforced Aluminum and contributed to the manufacturing of the High Gain Antenna Booms for the Hubble Space Telescope. Prior to that, they worked as a Technical Staff member at The Aerospace Corporation, where they helped develop various Graphite Fiber Reinforced Metals and patented an aluminum chemical composition variation for improved properties on Graphote-Aluminum Composites. Before entering the private sector, Harrigan served as the President of MMcEngineering Inc.

Bill Harrigan's education history includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. Bill also holds a Master of Science degree in Materials Science and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Materials Science, both from Stanford University.
