Kathryn Doherty began their work experience in 1996 as an Airworthiness Administration Officer for the Civil Aviation Authority, where they stayed until 2000. Kathryn then worked as an Operations Manager for the Applications & Certification Section within the Airworthiness Division from 2003 to 2010, leading teams and implementing change management strategies. From 2010 to 2013, they served as a Senior Inspecting Officer for Flight Operations Aeroplanes at the Civil Aviation Authority. In 2014, they became a self-employed freelance Flight Ops and SMS Auditor. In 2015, they joined Gama Aviation as a Compliance Monitoring Manager Operations and later became the Head of Aviation Compliance.

Kathryn Doherty attended St Bedes in Redhill Surrey, but no specific degree or field of study is known.
