Brandi Rarus oversees the Office of University Communications and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. University Communications provides public and media relations, marketing, design, and photographic and videographic support to the university. Ms. Rarus came to Gallaudet from Communication Service for the Deaf (CSD) in Austin, Texas, where she was Vice President of Public Relations, Engagement, and Policy. In this role, she led a team in the areas of media relations, brand management, corporate communications, social media, public policy, and community engagement. Earlier in her career at CSD, Ms. Rarus was director of business development, which included supporting CSD’s creative services. Before working with CSD, Ms. Rarus spent 11 years at Sprint in both account management and executive sales. Ms. Rarus is the author of Finding Zoe: A Deaf Woman’s Story of Identity, Love, and Adoption, a widely-acclaimed memoir. She earned a bachelor’s degree in social work at Rochester Institute of Technology.
